Dr Edward McDonald

Ed was born and raised in North East England. He completed his MBBS with intercalated BSc in Healthcare Management at Imperial College London. He went on to undertake Foundation training in York completing attachments in a range of disciplines- GP/Psychiatry/Cardiology/Respiratory/Emergency Medicine/General Surgery.

His move to New Zealand three years ago was born out of a desire to experience an alternate Healthcare System and explore the possibility of better work-life balance. He worked mainly in the Auckland hospitals in General Medicine but also rotated to a Community Paediatric job and later a General Surgery position in Hawkes Bay before embarking on the General Practice route just over a year ago.

He is passionate about care in the community and has particular interests in Men’s Health and General Medicine. He plans to undertake further training in Dermatology and utilise this to foster a special interest in the context of his regular GP work.

Ed is engaged and has recently laid down roots in the Auckland area. He is a keen cook, enjoys trail running and spending time outdoors particularly in the more remote corners of Aotearoa.

Ed is available for appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
